FAQ

Straight answers to the things people actually ask.

Something we haven't covered? Ask us and you'll get a straight answer, no sales pitch attached.

What kind of AI consulting do you actually do?

Three things. We help you work out where AI fits in your business (strategy and readiness), we make sure you use it safely (security and governance), and we build the automations and AI agents that do the work. We don't sell software or resell subscriptions. We give you advice you can act on and systems that run.

Are you a large agency or a solo consultant?

A solo consultant with 30 years of experience. You work directly with Steve Ogilvie on every aspect of your project. No junior account managers, no layers of bureaucracy. That means faster decisions, deeper expertise, and someone personally invested in getting it right.

Where does the name Okavyx come from, and how do you say it?

It's pronounced oh-KAV-iks. The name is a riff on the founder's surname, Ogilvie. We generated variations with an AI, then searched Google for every one. If it returned results, it was discarded. The goal was a word that existed nowhere on the internet, so searching Okavyx leads straight to us. Unique by design, not by accident.

Where are you based? Do you work remotely?

Adelaide, South Australia. We work with businesses across Australia, primarily remote. Happy to meet in person if you're in Adelaide, or jump on a video call if you're not. The initial conversation is always free.

What does your process look like?

Four steps:

  1. Discovery call. No obligation. We learn about your business and what you're trying to solve.
  2. Proposal. A clear scope, timeline and fixed price. No surprises.
  3. Implementation. We do the work, with regular updates throughout.
  4. Handover. Full documentation, training for your team, and ongoing support options.
What makes you different from other AI consultants?

Most AI consultants come from a data science or software background. We come from infrastructure: three decades building and managing the systems AI needs to run on. That means we understand the security implications, the integration challenges and the operational reality of putting AI into a real business. And if AI isn't the right answer, we'll tell you.

How much does it cost?

Every project is different, so we quote per engagement after the discovery call. You get a fixed-price proposal before any work begins, so you know exactly what it costs and exactly what you're getting before you commit a dollar. The initial consultation is free.

Do you still do IT services?

Yes. Managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud migrations and Microsoft 365. It's the foundation we built the business on. For many clients the IT work comes first: get the infrastructure solid, then layer AI on top. You can't automate a mess.

Still weighing it up?

No pitch decks. No obligation. Just an honest conversation about where AI can help your business.
